A Clare woman who was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease is advising people who recently received a diagnosis to avoid online research and to trust the guidance of their GP.
Today is World IBD Day with an online seminar being held this evening which will share advice from health experts and lived experience from familiar faces living with Chron’s disease or IDB.
IBD is a lifelong condition where a person’s immune system attacks the digestive system causing damage to the bowel potentially requiring surgery.
Crusheen native, Sarah O’Connor, says the internet will more often than not highlight the worst case scenario.
