Clare HS Sufferer Urges Medical Professionals To Familiarise Themselves With The Condition

A Clare man who suffers with Hidradenitis Suppurativa, a rare skin condition, is urging doctors and dermatologists to familiarise themselves with the disease.

This week is International HS Awareness Week, a life long recurring condition that impacts over 74,000 people across Ireland and often takes around a decade to diagnose.

HS causes painful fluid-filled lumps on the skin which rupture or leak onto the skin resulting in scarring, disfigurement and potential disability.

Parteen native, Barry McGrath, says early diagnosis is key, but claims many medical professionals aren’t familiar with the condition.
