The Shannon Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation has sent a letter to Clare’s TDs on behalf of 54 hotels and guesthouses in the county.

They are seeking urgent support in the upcoming budget in an effort to save the tourism sector and some 8,800 jobs they predict will be lost in Clare alone.

The group is looking for the employment wage subsidy scheme to be restored to previous levels, a reduction of tourism VAT to 9%, liquidity measures to help fund hotels, and waiver of local authority rates for 12 months.
