Clare hotel owners hopeful of strong tourist season

Clare Hoteliers are feeling optimistic following recent tourism figures released by the Central Statistics Office.

Hotel and B&B owners across the county have reported an increase in bookings and enquiries for 2012, despite the statistics showing that visitor numbers dropped slighlty for the last quarter.

The CSO report also revealed that the number of Irish people travelling abroad was down by 1.1%.

President of the Irish Hotels Federation and Lahinch hotelier Michael Vaughan believes that this is good news for the local tourism industry.
