Communities across Clare will have their fingers crossed today as the national winners of this year’s Tidy Towns competition are announced in Dublin this afternoon.
32 towns and villages across the county entered the competition this year and all will be hoping to have their efforts recognised by the judges this time around.

Ennis is among the towns with particular high hopes, with Clare’s County Town looking to be named Ireland’s Tidiest Large Urban Centre for the first time since 2009.
