Clare honours President Higgins

The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, is to make his official return to Clare today where he will be bestowed with the county’s highest honour.

A civic reception is to be held at Aras Chontae an Chlair in Ennis to honour President Higgins, who spent much of his childhood at Ballycar near Newmarket on Fergus.

President Higgins will travel later to Scariff where he will visit the Irish Seedsavers Seed Bank Facility and mark the 25th anniversary of the East Clare Community Co-Op.

Spokesperson Olivia Hahne says they’re fully prepared thanks to the efforts of the whole community.
