Clare homeowners are showing a higher rate of local property tax compliance than the national average.
Revenue Chairperson Josephine Feehily says the national local property tax compliance rate of 89% is ‘remarkable’.
However, the rate is even higher here in Clare where 91% of people have already signed up to pay.
Already, 3.85 million euro has been paid by Clare residents, with another one million euro also committed by those who are paying by installments.
With over 45000 properties in Clare, however, this means around 4,000 homeowners have not yet paid up.
Those people are being warned that efforts to ensure they fill their obligations are underway.
Revenue is writing to property owners who are in employment or have an occupational pension who have not met their LPT obligations.
After receiving this letter, they will have 7 days to file a return online or the money will be deducted from their wages.
