Clare’s homeless are set to benefit from a new initiative that will establish community food groups.
Mid-West Simon has been named as one of the 28 community organisations to receive funding under Safefood’s Community Food Initiatives Programme, a 1.5 million euro investment aimed at positively influencing the eating habits of people in low-income communities.
The project which serves MidWest Simon communities in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary will deliver classes in food budgeting, cooking, meal planning and reducing food waste.
Safefood Director of Nutrition Dr Aoife McGloin says it will bring numerous health and social benefits.
