A Clare member of the Oireachtas Health Committee insists the health service can’t be top-heavy with management and administrators.
It follows the announcement by HSE CEO, Bernard Gloster that the recruitment of such staff will be temporarily halted, in a bid to combat the service’s €150 million budget overspend in January & February.
In 2022, the HSE employed 2,254 people at University Hospital Limerick, with 10% of all management & admin staff at the Dooradoyle facility moving on from their positions over the year.
Ennistymon based Fine Gael Senator, Martin Conway says the HSE cannot function efficiently as a top heavy organisation.
