Clare health campaigners have described as extremely worrying, recent figures which reveal that less than a third of ambulances arrive at the scene of an life threatening emergency within 8 minutes.
The statistics show just 29 percent of ambulances in the West made the eight minute target last year to arrive at the scene for patients with heart or breathing problems.
While every region in the country had a poor rate- the West which includes Clare, Galway and Limerick had the worst record.
The HSE says the it has no record of any patient being adversly affected by a late arrival, but west Clare Councillor Christy Curtin says the issue is an ongoing concern for many
He is calling for an air ambulance service to be introduced here.
