Clare Haven is among a number of advocacy groups backing calls for young people to be taught more about coercive control.
A new survey from Women’s Aid has revealed an estimated one in six women between the ages of 18 and 25 have been subjected to coercive control by a partner, while one in five young people has never heard of the practice.

Coercive control has been a criminal offence in Ireland since January 2019.
Deirdre Murray, who’s Children and Young People Support Co-Ordinator with Clare Haven, says more awareness is needed on the issue.
