The manager of Clare Haven insists many victims of domestic abuse are unable to meet the costs of their legal fees.
It follows claims from legal advice charity FLAC that the 130 euro fee for legal aid prevents many in desperate situations from seeking help.

A review of the fee is due to be completed by the end of the year – it’s currently only free for those earning €18,000 or less.
Clare Haven’s service manager Johnny O’Rourke says the costs for those above this threshold can climb quickly.
