Clare Haven Insists Services Not Impacted By Delay In Building New Shelter

An emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence planned for Ennis has been delayed by almost two years.

Funding has been approved under the Capital Assistance Scheme to replace six refuge units in Ennis, where those fleeing domestic violence currently have to share communal areas.

The project, which will see five new units being built, was due to be finished by the end of this year, but The Times Ireland has reported that the completion date has now been pushed back by a further 18 months.

Manager of Clare Haven Services, Johnny O’Rourke has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that the charity’s provision of services will remain unaffected:
