Clare hauliers hope to see Finance minister act on rising fuel price in Budget

Clare Hauliers are confident that Finance minister will heed their calls for a fuel rebate in the Budget, to counteract the rising price of doing business here and to protect local jobs.

The Irish Road Haulage Association met with Minister Michael Noonan to discuss the implementation of an Essential User Fuel Rebate for licensed, tax compliant road haulage operators who are struggling to cope with the rising cost of petrol and diesel.

Hauliers say the Minister appeared to accept that the implementation of the rebate would assist Revenue’s efforts to tackle the illegal fuel trade, and would also see more exporters buying their fuel here in Ireland.
