A Clare hairdresser believes the hospitality sector will be left in dire straits if the government reinstates the 13.5% VAT rate.
The Irish Hairdressers Association and the Restaurant Association of Ireland have issued a joint statement today, calling for the retention of the lower 9% rate, which was introduced to supplement business during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the sector has reported difficulties in the same period, due to a significant increase in operating costs and challenges in recruiting qualified staff.
