Two Clare community projects are aiming to show their Pride of Place in a cross border competition this week.
Clare County Council has selected Clare Sports Partnership and Cuimhneamh and Chláir as the County’s representatives in Pride of Place 2012, which is run by Co-operation Ireland in conjunction with local authorities north and south of the border.
Judging will take place on Friday and both groups are hoping to follow in the footsteps of last years entries, the Clare Crusaders who received a special award under the Community Health Initiative category and Loop Head Tourism, which was short-listed in the All-Ireland competition.
Cuimhneamh an Chláir records the memories of Clare’s oldest citizens and recently launched the clarememories.ie website, while the Clare Sports Partnership has been running the Physical Activity Leaders (PALS) training as part of its strategy for older adults.
