Clare Groom-To-Be Calls For Clarity On Wedding Restrictions

A Clare groom-to-be has added his voice to calls for clarity on restrictions surrounding weddings in the coming months.

From late July, small weddings will be permitted under current government plans, but guidelines on the details have yet to be released.

The countdown on is well and truly on for couples still hoping to tie the knot this summer, but during what should be one of the most memorable times of their lives, they face an anxious wait.

Under phase four of the Government’s roadmap out of coronavirus lockdown, which is due to begin on July 20th, small weddings will be allowed.

But just exactly what that means in terms of numbers, remains unclear.

Health Minister Simon Harris has said the Government is working on more detailed guidance, which will be available over the coming weeks.

Ballyea man Eoin Neylon is due to marry his partner Áine in August and he says they’re burdened with the ongoing dilemma of whether to try to go ahead with their nuptials this year or to postpone.

He says they and others like them have sympathy for the unprecedented situation the Government has been faced with, but he believes their concerns are being ignored.

Eoin says there could be considerable financial implications for couples.
