Clare’s Green Party Senator is calling on the government to prioritise the recruitment of guidance counsellors in the upcoming budget.
There is just one counsellor for every 453 secondary school students nationwide, while over 10% of those qualified in the profession are currently out of practice.
At the end of last year, over 400 adolescents in the Midwest were waiting 18 months or more for a mental health appoitnment.
