Members of the force will vote on a proposal from the Labour Court after a strike was averted late last night.

However, the deal opens the door to pay demands from right across the public sector, while one Clare TD believes it hurts Ireland internationally.

Gardaí called off today's strike, after the Labour Court recommended increased payments for members of the force.

General Secretary of the Civil Public and Services Union is Eoin Ronayne – he says Lansdowne Road is now in tatters:

Meanwhile the GRA's representative for Clare insists the dispute should never been allowed to deteriorate as far as it did.

Ennis-based Garda Paul Crowley says it was unfair on both Gardai and the public.
