Clare’s GRA representative believes concerns around the Garda Commissioner’s handling of recent law and order issues have led to his no confidence motion being tabled.
A meeting of the Garda Representative Association took place yesterday Garda Commissioner Drew Harris’s announcement last week that the roster which was in place before the pandemic will be resumed in late October.
With 71 resignations this year and 116 Gardaí currently on suspension, concerns have been raised that staffing levels are too low to fulfil the requirements of the new arrangement.
It comes as the US embassy has warned American citizens to “keep a low profile” while in Ireland following the recent assault of an American tourist in Dublin City Centre.
Clare GRA representative Paul Crowley has been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons there are not enough Gardaí as it is to adequately keep law and order.
