Clare GP Warns Heat Exposure Can Seriously Impact Health – As Status Yellow Heat Alert Issued

A Clare GP is warning people could experience serious issues from exposure to heat early next week.

It comes as the country faces record-breaking temperatures from this weekend.

Met Éireann has now issued a weather warning.

Met Eireann is warning that from Sunday to Tuesday, exceptionally warm weather will occur over Ireland.

Daytime temperatures could reach record levels of 32 degrees in some areas on Monday.

It will also be uncomfortably warm at night, with overnight temperatures of up to 20 degrees expected.

A prominent Clare GP is warning that we’re just not used to that kind of heat in Ireland and that it could cause serious health issues for people.

Dr Máire Finn is urging people to look out for the most vulnerable, both young and elderly, to ensure they’re not suffering in the heat.

The Ennis GP says people should close curtains during the day, make use of fans and wear loose clothing.
