The Clare-based Chair of the Oireachtas Education Committee says any third-level supports introduced in budget 2026 should be permanent measures.
Student fees were cut by €1,000 in last years budget, however the Government has already ruled out the prospect of once-off payments this time round.

However it’s been reported today that college and university fees will be cut by up to €500 in next months budget.
Meelick Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan the details won’t be known until budget day.
