Clare Government TDs admit the findings of the Mahon probe paint a bleak picture of all public representatives.
As well as making findings against individuals – the report also said that corruption in Irish political life was endemic and systemic and crossed party divides.
Clare Labour TD Michael McNamara says the report has damaged the reputation of public representatives while Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey says lessons must and will be learned from the findings.
Meanwhile
Clare’s Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley says he accepts the findings of the tribunal without reservation, and says he is deeply disappointed that senior members of his party have betrayed the trust of the people.
While the Taoiseach Enda Kenny says the Government will be considering all of the recommendations of the Mahon tribunal in a full week of debates, next week.
