A Clare Government TD says he’s ‘flummoxed and frustrated’ at what he describes as an ongoing delay into investigating eight Limerick-based Gardai for alleged corruption.
Eight Gardai are suspended since November 2020 due to the alleged ‘squaring away’ of road traffic offences, but so far none of them have been convicted of any wrongdoing.
More than ten percent of Clare’s population is covered by the Limerick Garda Division.
Commissioner Drew Harris had been called on to ‘speed up’ the investigation when he came before Clare’s Joint Policing Committee last October.
Meelick-based Fianna Fail TD Cathal Crowe says there are people still living under ‘a net of suspicion’ due to the delays.
