A Clare government TD is calling for increased supports for direct provision residents before the system is wound down in three years’ time.

The State plans to end the system by 2024, though Fianna Fail Deputy Cathal Crowe is raising concerns that more assistance for those seeking international protection in the interim is needed.

Knockalisheen direct provision centre in Meelick can accommodate up to 250 residents at any one time.
