A Clare Government Senator says mileage rates for home care assistants need to be ‘immediately addressed’.
It comes amid increasing concern about the rising cost of fuel, with average prices at the pumps here now well over two euro a litre.

Current expense rates for fuel for the public service were set back in 2017, and depend on total mileage travelled and the size of a vehicle’s engine.
However, Mountshannon-based Fianna Fail Senator Timmy Dooley says that allowance for home carers in particular needs to be looked at due to the nature of the service they provide.
