Clare Government Senator Says HIQA Investigation Into UHL Needed ‘As Quickly As Possible’

Clare’s Fine Gael Senator says a HIQA investigation into overcrowding at the region’s main hospital needs to happen as quickly as possible.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 81 people were waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, which is down from 90 yesterday.

It’s been two weeks since Health Minister Stephen Donnelly visited UHL’s emergency department, with HIQA committing to inspect the facility in the near future.

Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Ennistymon-based Senator Martin Conway, who’s his party’s Seanad spokesperson on health, says that needs to happen quickly and be published in full when completed.
