A Clare Government Senator is calling for a ‘greater scrutiny’ into the amassed wealth of criminals locally and further afield.
It comes amid ongoing concern about a number of incidents in Ennis in recent times, including the discharge of a firearm in Cloughleigh and a separate hit and run incident.
The Clare Garda Division’s fleet, along with its number of personnel, is understood to be amongst the lowest in the country, though extra funding has been pledged to it and others by Justice Minister Heather Humphreys this week.
Mountshannon-based Fianna Fail Senator Timmy Dooley says more specialist services are needed.
