A Clare Government senator has called for the legal starting age in the Irish Education system to be lower.

Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy says the current rule means pre-school aged children with special needs are missing out on supports as they are not incorporated into the system.
Senator Mulcahy's asking the Minister for Education to reduce the age to 3 to include youngsters who require special needs assistance in class.
He says it would make a vital difference for families
