The Minister for Transport has been accused of going on a ‘solo-run’ by blocking the second phase of the Northern Distributor Road.
A recent meeting of local Oireachtas members was told that phase two of the project, which links Coonagh to the University of Limerick, had been halted by ‘ministerial order’ from Eamon Ryan.

The Minister’s suggestions that both Clare and Limerick would be encouraged to prosper via active travel routes, rather than the key road infrastructure, has been met with fury by TD’s and Senators in the region.
Clarecastle Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has now addressed Minister Ryan in the Dáil, calling for him to realise the decades of work that he’s undoing by preventing the project from going ahead.
