Clare Gardaí are warning the public that even unwitting money mules could still face a prison sentence.
A money or parcel mule is a person who transfers illegally obtained money between different payment accounts, very often in different countries, on behalf of others.
Gardaí warn that criminals can approach people through seemingly legitimate job adverts or online posts and young people with debts can be particluarly susceptible.
Ennis Garda Station’s Irene O Flynn says “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
