Motorists in Clare are being advised to be mindful of vulnerable road users amid a spike in pedestrian road fatalities.
An Garda Síochána’s Easter Bank Holiday Weekend Roads Policing Operation got underway at 7am on Thursday and will run until Tuesday.
Gardaí have observed an increase in the number of road traffic collisions on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays of late, with roughly double the five-year average number of collisions on Fridays happening this year.
Head of the Clare/Tipperary Garda Division’s Roads Policing Unit, Superintendent Eddie Golden, has been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons the likes of pedestrians, passengers and cyclists are particularly at risk.
