Clare Gardaí Urge Firearms Licence Holders To Store Guns Securely

Gardaí in Clare are reminding firearms licence holders of their obligation to ensure firearms are stored safely and securely at home, and while travelling to a shoot or hunt.

They say firearms must always be unloaded, transported in a case or sleeve, kept out of sight in a locked boot, and never left in the seating area of a vehicle.

Sergeant Edel Burke from Kilrush Garda Station says key components such as rifle bolts or shotgun fore-ends should be removed and stored separately.

And she’s warning that carrying a concealed firearm or ammunition in public is only permitted when it’s necessary for a lawful purpose.
