Clare Gardaí Urge Drivers To Take Extra Care As Primary And Secondary Students Return To School

Gardaí are urging motorists to drive with extra care, as both primary and secondary students return to school this week.

There’ll be increased traffic on the roads and walkways at particular times during the day, following the summer period and drivers are being warned they should be particularly careful when passing schools in towns and villages.

They’re also reminding drivers to be aware of children coming out from behind buses or cars that they have gotten out of.

Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Triona Brooks says drivers should “Slow down and drive at an appropriate speed, and for parents or anyone dropping students to school, don’t park illegally and ensure everyone in your vehicle is wearing their safety belt and to ensure all children are in a suitable safety seat”.
