Garda checkpoints are continuing across the county this weekend as part of efforts to cut down on drink-driving.

78 people have been killed or seriously injured in June Bank Holiday collisions since 2016 and research from the Road Safety Authority has found that alcohol remains the most prevalent intoxicant detected in drivers

1 in 10 people surveyed admitted to drink-driving in the last 12 months, with one quarter of those admitting to having two or more drinks before getting behind the wheel.

Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Triona Brooks is warning that you could still be unfit to drive the morning after.
