Gardaí in Clare are warning of an elaborate fraud that occurred in the county in the past week.
The injured party received a telephone call from a man, who told them that there had been suspicious activity on their account and advised them that a courier would come and collect their card and take it to a Garda Station to rectify the matter.

The fraudster then provided them with a code and they were instructed to provide this to the courier.
Each of these steps convinced the injured party that this was a genuine call and they remained on the phone until a female courier collected the card and two criminals subsequently used this card to withdraw money from their bank account.
