Clare Gardaí Encouraging “Collective Responsibility” During Bank Holiday Festivities

Clare Gardaí are advising people to take “collective responsibility” for their friend group as they socialise over the weekend.

The May Bank Holiday period is typically associated with a spike in roads offences, with 188 arrests having been made over this weekend last year for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

900 on-the-spot fixed charge penalty notices for speeding were also issued during this period.

Head of the Roads Policing Unit in the Clare-Tipperary Garda Division Superintendent Eddie Golden says planning in advance is of paramount importance ahead of nights-out.
