Clare Gardaí Appeal For Public’s Help In Finding Missing Japanese Couple

Gardaí are appealing for information on two Japanese nationals feared missing in Clare since the weekend.

The alarm was raised after a car hired by the couple was reported as being parked at Byrnes Cove in Kilkee since Saturday.

63 year old Eiji Takagi and 61 year old Ushio Azaki checked out of their hotel accomodation in Spanish Point on Saturday after spending time there last week.

It's believed a car they hired, a red Hyundai with registration number 151-D-23003 was parked at Georges Head car park in Kilkee shortly after 9pm on Saturday night.

The couple were due to take a flight to Tokyo, Japan on Monday last from Shannon Airport but never got on the plane.

They were reported missing after their car was found parked in the same place since Saturday.

Crime Prevention Officer, Sereant Joe downey is appealing to anyone with information on the couple to come forward.

Coast Guard teams from Kilkee and Doolin carried out searches on land and sea until darkness last night, while the Shannon-based coast guard also assisted.

Martoni of Kilkee Coast Guard says they will continue the search for as long as it takes.
