Clare’s GRA representative has accused Garda management of having no tolerance for human error when it comes to mistakes made by staff.
An extensive research project commenced by the Garda Representative Association in March of this year has found that 97.5% of Gardaí surveyed said their mental or physical health has suffered while working for the organisation.
Meanwhile, 70% of those surveyed who left an An Garda Síochána said their departure was due to unfair treatment, discipline or being bullied by management while 37.5% said it was because of work-related stress or other mental health reasons.
Clare Garda Paul Crowley has observed that a lack of adequate training structures is leading to over-reliance on disciplinary measures by Garda management.
