A Clare Garda is among 36 people who’ll be honoured for saving lives in Irish Waters at an event in Dublin today.

Well-known Lisseycasey footballer and Clare goalkeeper Joe Hayes will be presented with Irish Water Safety’s "Just In Time Award" for jumping into the River Shannon in Limerick last June to save the life of a woman in the water.
The presentation will be made by Minister Fergus O’Dowd in Dublin Castle this evening, it follows a record number of drownings and of near misses during the Summer heatwave.
