At the end of March, An Garda Siochana says there were 55 vehicles assigned to the Clare Garda Division.

That’s up from 49 a year previously, with the increase mainly being seen in the number of cars at the disposal of local Gardaí.

However, despite the increase, official Garda statistics show there are still fewer vehicles for Clare Gardaí than in any of the 27 other Divisions.

Among those are Wicklow, Sligo-Leitrim, Roscommon-Longford and Cork West which all have more vehicles than Clare even though there are fewer Gardaí stationed in each of those areas.

The 55 vehicles in the Clare Garda fleet include 21 marked Garda cars, 20 unmarked cars, 11 vans, 2 motorcycles and 1 4×4.
