Clare GAA has secured planning permission to redevelop its centre of excellence at Caherlohan.
The county board can now press ahead with plans for a new all weather playing pitch, spectator stand, dressing rooms, gym and more at the Tulla site.
It’s a multi-million euro project that’s benefited from over €3.7m in government grants in the last year alone.
The full scope of the works will involve an extension to the existing Clare GAA Centre of Excellence building to incorporate a new gym, new dressing rooms, and dining area.
There will also be a new equipment store, and three full length playing pitches, one of which will be all-weather and equipped with six floodlights, with a new ball wall across the way.
There will be 12 new floodlights for existing pitches along with one new spectator stand, resurfaced car parks and a dedicated area for occasional farmers markets and a sensory garden.
The application was first lodged last June, but the plans met a significant stumbling block when Clare County Council flagged concerns over wastewater connections, the protection of the lesser horseshoe bat and road safety.
After considering the solutions proposed by Clare GAA, Clare County Council has now granted permission for the development to go ahead subject to six conditions.
