Clare footballer Ikem Ugwueru says some instances of racist sledging which he received as a young footballer proved difficult but it drove him on.
The Éire Óg club man, who has won two senior football championship medals, was speaking as part of Supervalu’s Community Includes Everyone campaign, which focuses on encouraging diversity and inclusion in Gaelic games.
Along with his county team-mates Ikem Ugwueru is preparing for a Munster final clash with Kerry on May 7 in Limerick.
He says that he that while he was at the receiving end of some racist comments as a young footballer he is proud of his dual heritage.
