Many businesses in Clare are NOT passing on the new reduced VAT rate savings.
It’s two weeks today since the government introduced a new 9% lower rate of VAT for hotels, restaurants, hairdressers, newspapers, cinemas and other entertainment outlets, but a majority of visitors to the Clare -dot- FM website say they’re not being passed on to customers.
In an on-line poll- 58% of those surveyed say their local businesses haven’t reduced their prices accordingly – and 26% say they haven’t noticed the reductions.
Just 15% of those who took part in the Clare-dot FM survey reported saving money since the introduction of the initiative aimed at boosting businesses and jobs.
