The Clare Fire Service is asking people throughout the county to ensure they have a working fire alarm.
Local fire personnel say call-out figures last Christmas were less than those recorded over the previous three festive periods, and the county’s residents are being urged to keep safety in mind.
Homeowners are asked to test their smoke detectors and alarms, in order to ensure their batteries are in full working order, as well as keeping their chimneys clean and planning an escape route in the event that a blaze strikes.
