Clare’s Fire Department is urging the public to remain vigilant in the coming days despite Halloween night having passed.
Fire crews dealt with blazes across the county, including waste burning outside a shopfront in Shannon, while on Kilkee Beach a gas cylinder and aerosol cans were removed from a large bonfire before it was put out.
The decrease in activity this year has been attributed to a co-ordinated awareness and information campaign between Gardaí, the fire service and local schools.
However Chief Fire Officer with Clare County Council Adrian Kelly has acknowledged the role of the inclement weather in deterring anti-social behaviour last night and he’s been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan its highly likely that those who have built up stocks of illegal fireworks will deploy them throughout the week.
