The Clare Fire and Rescue Service has revealed that storms which battered the county over the Christmas period has left it with a bill of almost sixty thousand euro.

In all, the fire service were called out to 115 incidents over the festive period, and 70 of these involved dealing with fallen trees following strong winds on the night of December 26th.
Over half of all incidents were dealt with by fire personnel in Ennis, with Shannon, Ennistymon, Scarriff the next busiest areas followed by Killaloe, Kilrush and Kilkee.
Clare’s Chief Fire Officer Adrian Kelly says it was one of their busiest periods since the major flooding of November 2009.
