Anti Water Charges Campaigners in Clare say they're confident they will succeed in having Irish Water Scrapped.
Their comments come as Fine Gael Councillors in the county tell their party's Oireachtas members the Government needs to find a fairer system.
Clare County Councillors have unanimously called for water charges to be suspended until Irish Water is overhauled.
Three votes were held including two which had sought the suspension of water charges while until such time that Irish Water had been overhauled.
Both of these were supported by the Fine Gael Councillors, who had earlier voiced their concerns with regards to Irish Water during a meeting with the party's Clare TDs and Senators.
Another motion called for to be scrapped entirely, this was passed but without the support of Fine Gael Councillors.
Protestors attended the three hour long debate on the issue. they concluded proceedings by applauding public representatives, they're now confident the entire plan will be scrapped.
The Public Expenditure Minister says the Government needs to instill public confidence in Irish Water.

Separately, an insurance company is playing down reports that it won't cover the cost of water charges if households spring a leak.
Allianz Insurance says it will cover the first 1,000 euro of water charges incurred by households if leaks occur through the likes of fire or extreme weather.
The insurer says the move is an extension of its previous insurance cover, which didn't cover the cost of any water charges incurred by pipes leaking.
Water charges are currently due to be capped until next July – though the cap is likely to be extended until at least the end of 2016.
