Clare Farmers Not Paid Money Due Under Scheme

Over 10% of Clare farmers, who are members of some of the most popular farm payment schemes, have yet to receive monies paid to them.

Agriculture Minister Michael Creed has told the Dáil that over 2,500 farmers here are members of the GLAS 1, GLAS 2 or AEOS (A-Oss) schemes.

However, 265 of them have yet to receive money that has been due to them.

The Minister was asked to outline the reasons for the delay, but did not give one.

Farming organisations have blamed the Department, and a requirement for mandatory checks of each application, for the hold-up and have said that many are running out of patience.
