Clare Farmers Fear Impact Of Budget Cuts

Clare farmers are expressing concern over proposed multi-million euro cuts to the agriculture sector in this month’s budget.

The Minister for Agriculture has described the majority of cuts, pegged at 54 million euro, as ‘natural savings’ that have already been earmarked.

Almost half of the savings will come from farmers exiting REPS 4, and those leaving the scheme this year will be offered no replacement – farmers here say it offers a vital support to Clare’s rural economy.
